THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 90-38
being a by-law to appoint an Acting
Mayor and to repeal By-law 90-10
WHEREAS Section 72(3) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter
302, authorizes the Council of a municipality to appoint an Acting
Mayor:
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
deems it expedient to appoint a Member of the Council to act from
time-to-time in the place and stead of the Head of Council when the
Head of Council is absent from the Municipality or absent through
illness or her office is vacant and, while so acting, such Member
has and may exercise all the rights, powers and authority of the
Head of Council.
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
NEWCASTLE HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT each Councillor serve in alphabetical order for a two-
month period as follows:
Councillor P. Deegan
Councillor D. Hamre
Councillor L. Hannah
Councillor K. Hooper
Councillor F. Stapleton
Councillor A. Wotten
Councillor P. Deegan

2. THAT By-law Number 90-10 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 26th day of February 1990
By-law read a third time and finally passed this 26th day of
February 1990
