By-Law No. 74-20
A by-lm~ to constitute a Committee of
Adjusoment for the Town of Newcastle.
The Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS:-
"
1. THAT a Committee of Adjustment within the meaning of The Planning Act,
R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 349, composed of six persons, be constituted for the
Town of Newcastle.
2. THAT the members of the Committee of Adjustment shall hold office for
a period of three years from the date of their appointment except for the
first members who shall hold office until the lot day of January of the years
respectively set out after their namec.
3. THE members of the Committee of Adjustment shall hold office until their
e successors are appointed and approved and shall be eligible for re-appointment.
4. A majority of the members of the Committee of Adjustment shall constitute
a quorum.
5. THE members of the Committee of Adjusuaent shall elect one of themselves
as Chairman, and when the Chairman is absent through illness or otherwise, the
Committee may appoint another member to act as Chairman pro tempore.
6. THE Committee shall appoint a secretary-treasurer who may be a member
of the Committee, and may engage such employees and consultants as is deemed
expedient within the limits of the monies appropriated for the purpose.
7. THE Secretary-Treasurer shall keep on file, minutes and records of all
applications, and the decisions thereon, and of all other official business of
the Committee.
8. THE Committee, subject to the approval of the Minister of the Treasury,
Economics and Intergovernmental Affairs, may adopt such general rules and rules
of procedure as it deems necessary.

9. THE following persons are hereby appointed members of the Committee of
Adjustment of the To'~ of Newcastle until the 1st day of January of the years

10. THAT all by-laws of the Corporations of the Townships of Darlington
and Clarke, the Town of Bowmanvi1le and the Village of Newcastle constituting
Committees of Adjustment or appointing members thereto, are hereby repealed.
