THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ClARINGTON
BY-lAW NUMBER 2006-217
being a by-law to appoint an acting Head of Council to act
in the place of the Head of Council for the Municipality of
Clarington and to repeal By-law 2003-177
WHEREAS Section 226 of the Municipal Act, c.25 authorizes the Council of the
municipality to appoint a member of the council to act in the place of the head
of council;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of
Clarington deems it expedient to appoint a member of the Council to act from
time-to-time in the place and stead of the Head of Council when the Head of
Council is absent from the Municipality or absent through illness or his office is
vacant and, while so acting, such member has and may exercise all rights,
powers and authority of the Head of Council;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCil OF THE CORPORATION OF THE
MUNICIPALITY OF ClARINGTON ENACTS AS FOllOWS:
1 . THAT the Acting Mayor shall be known as the Deputy Mayor;
2. THAT Regional Councillors serve as Deputy Mayor for the time periods
specified:
Councillor Charlie Trim - December 1,2006 to November 30,2007
Councillor Mary Novak - December 1,2007 to November 30, 2008
Councillor Charlie Trim - December 1,2008 to November 30,2009
Councillor Mary Novak - December 1, 2009 to November 30, 2010
3. THAT By-law 2003-177 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 18th day of December 2006.
By-Law read a third time and finally passed this 18th day of December 2006.
