Special meeting of council was held on above date members all present mayor presiding and stated that he had called the meeting to pass a By-Law. COW'UNICATIONS. From Strike and Strike and A~. L. C. Mason in reference to the closing of the C.P.R. Railway Crossing to the properties of Mr. Howard Burgess and Mr. J. Leddy. Moved by Gr. Presson seconded by Cr. Lathangue that although the council have no legal obligation to the owners of the land effected by the closing of the crossing on the C.P.H. that council feel sympathetic to the parties involved and that the Town Solicitor meet with Ur. Mason and Miss HOdgins to seek some amicable solution with no financial obligation to the town. " Carried. n Moved by Rv. Carruthers seconded by Dp. Rv. Riggan that ~r. O. J. Presson be appointed representative from council on the Lake Ontario Development Association for 1958. " Carried. n BY-LilW Rv. Carruthers asked permission to introduce a by-L~w to provide for certain exemption for land assessed in parcels in not less than 5 acres as provided in Section 35 of the Assessment Act, Chapter 24, R.S.O. 1950. Granted and read the first time on motion rule 33 was suspended and council went into committee of the whole on second reading the mayor in the chair. On committee rising and mayor reported the second reading with all blanks filled in. By-Law was then read a secQnd and third time passed and was ordered to be signed and sealed.
