Granted bod read the first time. On motion council went into committee of the
whole on second reading the mayor in the chair. On cornmittee risir~g the rr,a:yor
reported the second reading~ with ~ll blanks filled in. by-LBwS ~ere thcln

Moved by D~. Rv. Higgon, seconded by Cr. Sturrock that the employees of the
GarbR~e Department to be p~id an edditional ~?20 per week as from January
1st, 1958, and that coats be supplip.d for their use.

E~ployees. Therefore moved by Ry,. Carruthers, seconned by Cr. Brough thut ell
Town Employees over the figS of 70 years be retired on J'u1y 31st, 1958 snd thHt
it be recommended to the 1959 Council thAt it take steps to provide retirement
in thflt year clt ape 68 Hnd further reductions at' retirement age ce made by
succeeding council~ to ultimately refl_Cf! tl;e retireJ:1ent 6E8 of 65.

VeLton snd l..r. J. Li. Highfield be supplemented by ,j;lOO.OO per month as from
date of retirement for the duration of their retirement tind that Yire Chief
C. L. Hoope. r be mad e a pre sentfition of $100.00 upon his ret irement.
