Dear Mayor Foster & Council,
The Clarington Museum and Archives governing by-laws section 4b
"Contracts/Agreements/Leases" states:
Other than for normal operating or administrative processes, the Board will not
enter any contract, or agreement which has the potential to commit funds, oblige,
or encumber the Municipality without written Council approval, or specific approval
detailed by resolution in the annual budget process.
The Clarington Museum and Archives Board has been in negotiation with CUPE 74-03
Clarington Museum and Archives on its first collective agreement. At a Special Board
meeting held on September 24, 2017 the following resolution was passed:
That one item was discussed In Camera regarding the First Collective
Agreement between Clarington Museum and Archives Board and CUPE 74-03
resulting in the following resolutions:
1) That the proposed Collective Agreement between the Board and CUPE Local
74-03 Clarington Museum and Archives be ratified;
2) That the Chair of the Board be directed to write a letter to the Municipality of
Clarington requesting that Municipal Council approve the Collective
Agreement; and
3) That the staff of the Municipality of Clarington be thanked for their advisory
role through the negotiation process.
Pursuant to the section of Clarington Museum and Archives governing by-laws at this
time the Board would request Councils approval of the attached collective agreement.
